Choosing a new piece of jewellery? How to find the correct ring size

Ring shopping can be simple if you're buying something generic from your local high-street jewellery shop. However, if you're looking for something unique and one of a kind, you're probably buying a bespoke piece. Personalised jewellery requires a little more planning so that the final product is exactly what you’re after. So, whether you're investing in a timeless keepsake for yourself or someone else, it’s lovely to know that no two jewellery pieces will ever be the same. That is the beauty of Noémi Eśka's fine fingerprint jewellery.

Recommended tips for finding the right size ring

To start out on your personalised jewellery adventure, make sure you’re measuring the exact finger that you would like the new ring to sit on. Bear in mind that the fingers on your dominant hand will sometimes be larger than your non-dominant hand.

Did you know that the time of day and ambient temperature all play a role in the size of your fingers? Cooler weather can make your fingers shrink and warmer weather can cause swelling. Aim for a time when you're not boiling hot or just in from the cold. Timing your sizing at the end of the day could give you a larger than regular measurement so try to go for the mornings or midday, if possible.

If you don’t have a ring sizer at home, there are a couple of methods for measurement available. First, you can measure an existing ring's diameter that fits the finger you'd like your new ring to be worn on. Or you can use a strip of paper, dental floss, or string and measure the circumference of your finger – it’s just as effective.

If you're using an existing ring, measure the diameter of the ring from edge to edge to the nearest millimetre with a ruler or measuring tape.

For the paper or string method, cut a length of about 6" (and half an inch wide if you're using paper) and wrap around the widest part of your finger. Mark the part where the beginning edge overlaps with a marker pen. Then, measure along the length of a ruler in millimetres up to where you've made your mark.

Use the chart below to identify your corresponding ring size.

To make things easier, we always include a ring sizer in the kits we send to your home.

Our fine fingerprint jewellery is crafted from precious metals, sterling silver, and solid 9CT or 18CT yellow gold. The Fingerprint ring can feature up to four loved ones' exact fingerprints and is available in 3mm, 5mm, and 8mm widths which go up to a women’s size P. We also offer a men’s specific 7mm wedding band. These precious pieces make the perfect wedding band and are stunning both stacked orworn on their own. Also, look out for our brand new engagement rings and diamond collection that we are excited to launch soon.

The right ring fit should be comfortable so that the ring doesn't feel too tight but that it can move past the knuckle, which is usually the largest part of the finger. Feel free to contact us either by email at hello@noemieska.com or call +447545 330724 during office hours. We would love to hear from you and take any queries you may have.

If you do find you have run out of time and haven't planned in advance, don't worry. Noémi Eśka gift cards are readily available and perfect for such an occasion, or, like me, you sometimes are just too indecisive and can't choose what to give. Gift cards are valid for 12 months, allowing the recipient plenty of time to select the perfect piece of fine jewellery to perfectly complement their unique style.
